The in-person poster session from the now-canceled Canadian Glycomics Symposium will be transformed to a virtual format. The Virtual Poster Session will take place on Thursday, June 25, 11 am – 1:00 pm MDT through the Poster Session site—a webpage containing all poster abstracts and digital posters. We open the virtual poster session to glycoscientists around the globe who would like to share their research discoveries and exchange ideas.
Join live presentations and interact with presenting authors.
During the Virtual Poster Session, each presenting author will be online and in “stand-by” mode — ready to present their posters and answer questions from session attendees through Zoom. Just like an in-person poster session where attendees come forward to a presenting author to ask questions, in a virtual poster session, attendees can click on the author’s Zoom link (url is in the abstract) and join the author’s meeting to have a conversation in real-time. This means each presenting author will have his/her own Zoom link. Poster Session attendees are encouraged to browse each abstract and interact with presenting author by clicking on the author’s Zoom url in the author’s abstract.
Share your expertise and findings to scientists around the globe.
The theme of the Canadian Glycomics Virtual Poster Session covers a diverse set of topics involving glycomics. This includes but is not limited to healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and animal health. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with researchers nationally and internationally, exchange ideas, and initiate conversations around glycomics.
If you would like to present your research during the Virtual Poster Session, follow the Abstract Guideline to submit your poster abstract.
Security and courtesy during the Virtual Poster Session.
To enhance security, the Poster Session site is password-protected. Access information will be provided only to registered attendees. You can register (for free) to attend the poster session as an attendee. During the Poster Session, we kindly ask the attendee not to take screenshots or record any audios or videos.
How do I Participate in the Virtual Poster Session?
Follow the Abstract Guideline to submit your abstract by May 15, 2020. You will receive the status of your submission through e-mail by May 22, 2020.
If your abstract is accepted, we will assign you a time slot (either 11:20 am – 12:00 pm MDT or 12:20 pm – 1:00 pm MDT on June 25, 2020). This is your “live presentation” time slot.
You (the presenting author) are responsible for creating a Zoom meeting scheduled for your assigned “live presentation” time slot. For example, if you are assigned to present at 11:20 am – 12:00 pm MDT, your Zoom meeting must be scheduled for June 25, 11:20 am – 12:00 pm MDT. This is the time in which you will “stand-by” in your Zoom meeting in case attendees join your meeting to ask you to present your poster or questions on your research. Detailed instructions to set up your Zoom meeting are in the Digital Poster Guideline. Visit Zoom Help Centre if you have any problems setting up a meeting.
Follow the Digital Poster Guideline to make your poster. Then, use the Digital Poster Submission Portal (open on May 22) to upload your digital poster, any additional audio/video files, and the url of your Zoom meeting link by June 15, 2020. All submitted information, including the url of your Zoom link, will be published on the Poster Session site.
On the day of the Virtual Poster Session (June 25), registered attendees for the poster session will browse abstracts, which contain the Zoom links from the presenting authors. Attendees can interact with presenting authors by clicking the authors’ Zoom urls and join the authors’ meetings. You (the presenting author) must be present in your Zoom meeting during your assigned time slot to present your poster or answer questions from the audience.
Note: if you are the presenting author, you do not need to register for the poster session. The Poster Session site is password-protected and presenting authors will receive the information to access the webpage.
Register by June 24, 2020 so we know how many attendees we are anticipating.
The Poster Session site is password-protected. Upon registration, we will send you the instructions to access the webpage through e-mail.
The Poster Session site will be open starting on Monday, June 22, 2020 for you to browse the abstracts and digital posters.
We kindly ask you not to take screenshots or record during the poster session without the presenting author’s consent.
